| By the end of the course, the Counselor, Marriage and Family Therapist, Social Worker or Psychologist will be able to:

-Explain what important concern is for LGBT youth, given this social/historical context, and despite increasing social acceptance.
-Explain what provided a foundational framework for understanding sexual minority mental health disparities.
-Explain what a critical period for mental health is because many mental disorders show onset during and directly following this developmental period.
-Name the two approaches often used to frame and explore mechanisms that exacerbate risk for LGBT youth.
-Explain what are these barriers include, LGBT youth may experience a number of social barriers related to dating same-sex partners that may have implications for their development during adolescence and at later stages of the life course.
-Explain what provide the broad, societal-level contexts that shape minority stress and, consequently, mental health.
-Explain what led to recommendations to educate and engage parents and family in interventions that affirm their LGBT identities.
-Explain who is committed to promoting a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment for all students and ensuring that every student has equal access to educational programs and activities.
-Explain when do students report feeling safer at school.
-Explain the reason the State Board of Education SBE is providing additional guidance and recommendations to help ensure these students receive the same educational opportunities as their peers.
-Explain what should be carefully considered when students have not come out to their parent(s).
-Explain what is Coming out often risk factor for youth.
